Rossella Macrina, a Roman visual artist and tattooist, has a solid academic background culminating in a specialization in Set Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, along with international studies at Escola Massana in Barcelona. Currently working at Aria Tattoo Lab, Rossella integrates a multidisciplinary background spanning painting and sculpture, transforming tattooing into a true extension of her artistic research. Her tattoo practice develops along two distinct technical directions. The first is an illustrative blackwork style with a pop influence, characterized by an ironic and symbolic visual language. In this field, she creates female icons and fantastical figures that blend sensuality with everyday storytelling, using a sharp and dynamic graphic line. The second line of research is abstract and conceptual. Here, tattooing is understood as an essential and layered mark, resulting from an intimate design process that treats the body as a sensitive surface. In this approach, the technique focuses on the handling of volume and the evolution of the mark over time, creating minimal compositions where matter and skin engage in a deep and harmonious dialogue.
